Biography

Dr. Andrea Weiss is a Medical (prescribing) and Clinical Child Psychologist. She currently works as an adjunct faculty at SCU’s Human Genetics and Genomics program, a clinician, and a research scientist focusing on suicide prevention. She completed her graduate training at the Uniformed Services University and later earned a post-doctoral masters in psychopharmacology. Following this she specialized in working with children and adolescents when she graduated from the Tripler Army Medical Center Child Psychology Fellowship Program.

 

She spent 12 years as an active-duty United States Air Force (USAF) Psychologist and currently serves as a USAF Reserve Psychologist. During her time as an USAF psychologist, she has held positions to include Mental Health Clinic Officer In Charge, Addiction Services Element Chief, and Psychology Internship Faculty, and worked in multiple capacities including running outpatient mental health, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient addictions programs, as well as providing psychological and medication management services for adults and children in mental health and primary care settings and as a research scientist at Headquarters working on Department of the Air Force-wide prevention and resiliency programs with a focus on suicide prevention. She has participated as faculty and guest lecturer in training programs for psychologists, social workers, physicians/medical students, and psychiatrists. She has led and participated in various research projects and sat as a member on the Uniformed Services University IRB.
