Biography

Dr. Joseph Houde was born as raised in Massachusetts in the subregion of Boston. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology.  He then moved to California where he studied Exercise Science at California State Dominguez Hills and Golden West College, CA and went on to graduate school at Southern California University of Health Sciences in Whittier, CA where he earned his Doctor of Chiropractic.  Following graduating he began to pursue his passion for sports medicine where he became certified as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), and also began post-graduate training through the American Chiropractic Boards of Sports Physicians (ACBSP), where he achieved his Certified Chiropractic Sports Practitioner (CCSP) designation followed by the highest designation in chiropractic sports medicine, the Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians (DACBSP).

Dr. Houde completed a two-week sports medicine rotation at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado in 2014 as well has participated in multiple Olympic Training Center rotations in Chula Vista as well as Colorado Springs. He has been a medical team staff member for Team USA Beach Volleyball since 2014. He has also been a medical team staff member of Team USA Men’s Field Hockey events since 2014. In 2017, he became the sports medicine director for the U.S. Men's Field Hockey National Team for 3 years.  He was an alternate Sports Medicine Provider for both the 2016 Rio and 2021 Tokyo Summer Olympics. He has also worked as a medical provider for many high school, recreational, and elite sporting events. 

Dr. Houde has had a successful practice in Orange County, CA since 2015, as well as being on staff as a sports medicine clinician at SCUHS working with both students and the sports medicine residents since 2017. 

In December of 2021 Dr. Houde had the opportunity to pursue a new Job opportunity back in his home state as the Senior Sports Medicine Provider at Canyon Ranch in Lenox, MA. 

Dr. Houde knows that each person is unique, and approaches each patient’s needs from that perspective. Dr. Houde applies the Sports Medicine realm and mindset to all patients and injuries. His goal in practice is to always return the patients to a pain-free and active lifestyle, and he does his best to understand their individual goals.
