Biography

Ricardo Fujikawa graduated from Marilia School of Medicine (Brazil) in 1993. After obtaining his degree in Medicine, he completed his medical residency in Internal Medicine and Haematology. He graduated as Doctor of Chiropractic (Magna Cum Laude) from Palmer College of Chiropractic – Davenport, in 2001 and he was the recipient of the Virgil Strang Philosophy Award, the Clinic Excellence Award, and the John Connolly Memorial Award (most outstanding graduate) for his cohort.

Fujikawa remained at Palmer College as faculty, becoming involved with the education exchange agreement between the Palmer College of Chiropractic and Feevale University (Brazil) to develop a chiropractic curriculum for the 5-year programme to be offered in Brazil. He served as Palmer-Feevale liaison in that program until 2002, then moved to Novo Hamburgo to serve as the on-site clinic coordinator at Feevale University - College of Chiropractic until 2007. During that time, Fujikawa was elected president of the Brazilian Chiropractic Association (ABQ) and council representative of the Latin America Region in the World Federation of Chiropractic Council for two terms. He was involved in preparing the documentation for the regulation of the chiropractic profession in Brazil, and also participated in the WHO Consultation on Chiropractic that produced the “WHO Guidelines on Basic Training and Safety in Chiropractic” document in 2005.

In 2008, Fujikawa moved to Madrid, Spain, to serve as the Head of Studies of Spain´s first chiropractic programme at the Royal University Centre EMC, where he served until August 2022.

He is the co-founder of the Fujitega Research Foundation, an organization dedicated to promote chiropractic through research, continuing education, humanitarian projects, and healthcare services.

Currently, Fujikawa remains involved in Chiropractic Education, being a visiting faculty at the State University of the Ecatepec Valley (UNEVE) in Mexico, part-time faculty at the Southern California University of Health Sciences (USA), and he is a module leader at the McTimoney College of Chiropractic – Madrid Campus (Spain).

Fujikawa is certified in the Activator Methods, teaching post-graduate studies worldwide, and his hobbies include Fencing, Aquatic Body Work (Watsu® and AQUASOMA®), Bungee Workout SuperFly® (instructor), and Ludosport Light-Sabre Combat (instructor level 1). He is an active member of the Rebel Legion Spanish Base (Star Wars costuming association), visiting hospitals and participating in charitable activities.
