Barbara obtained a Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology, with a minor in Chemistry, as well as a Master's degree in Biology from California State University, Northridge. During her time at CSU Northridge, she conducted research in a microbiology lab that investigates antibiotic resistance and microbial physiology. Her research has contributed to publications and presentations at local and national conferences.
