Biography

Dr. Craig Ruby is a professor and the founding program director for the developing Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at SCU. Prior to joining SCU on April 29th, 2024, he was the founding Program Director for the DPT program at Seton Hil University and prior that he was the Program Director for the DPT program at Wheeling Jesuit University. Dr. Ruby graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Biology, from Slippery Rock University with a Master's degree in physical therapy and from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a Doctorate in Education/Administration and Leadership. As a clinician, Dr. Ruby worked in outpatient orthopedic settings and in home care and specialized in patients with back pain. He has attended multiple continuing education courses and uses his experience and ongoing continuing education to teach musculoskeletal courses.. He also teaches content in research, leadership, ethics, legal aspects of practice and management. Dr. Ruby has served as a member and Chair of the Practice and Research Committee for the Pennsylvania Physical Therapy Association, as a Practice Analysis task force member and as an Item writer for the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy and as an On-site review team leader for the Commission on Accreditation for Physical Therapy Education. Dr. Ruby is also serving as a Delegate, representing Pennsylvania in the American Physical Therapy Association's Leadership Congress and is a member of the Pennsylvania State Board of Physical Therapy. He has also participated in over 25 international mission trips providing physical therapy care to underserved individuals in the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico, Satiago, Dominical Republic, and in Chimbote Peru. Dr. Ruby has authored 2 book chapters, several journal articles, and multiple peer reviewed presentations nationally and international on the topics of service learning and musculoskeletal rehabilitation.
