Biography

Hi, I am Dr. Markisha J. Woodson. I earned my BS, MSPH, and Ph.D. in Community Health from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and my MBA from Lewis University. I have been teaching community health, public health, health science and healthcare policy and management courses for 17 years at various colleges and universities.

I enjoy working with students and helping them achieve their academic, personal, and professional goals. Most recently, my work has focused on addressing health disparities impacting the African American community, more specifically maternal and child health. I live in the Chicagoland area with my husband, children, and my beagle “Reeses.” In my free time, I enjoy riding bikes with my family, attending my kids' sports competitions, and reading books.
