Biography

Dr. Paul Wanlass graduated Magna Cum Laude from Los Angeles College of Chiropractic (LACC) in 1999 with a doctorate in chiropractic (D.C.). In 2000 he became a Certified Specialist in Performance Nutrition (C.S.P.N.) and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (C.S.C.S.). He was certified as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT II) for five years, in addition to earning his A.A. degree from Diablo Valley College in CA., and completed 2 years of pre-medical education at the Riverside Community College in CA. 

After graduation, he was in private practice in California and Nevada treating patients of all ages including amateur, professional, and Olympic athletes, fire, police, military, and special forces personnel. His experience in chiropractic education began in 2003-2005 as a part-time lead instructor at SCU and then as a full-time Assistant Professor at SCU in 2007. Dr. Wanlass has led many chiropractic principles, chiropractic procedures, and selective courses and has held administrative positions such as the Department Co-Chair of the Basic Sciences Department for 2 years, Interim Chair of the Principles and Practice Department for 1 year, the Chair of the Clinical Education Department for 2 years, Interim Associate to the Dean for 1 year, Supervising Clinician for 2 years, Director of the five Community Based Internship Programs for 3 years, and as the Chair of the Professional Personnel Committee for a total of five years. He has also served on several Strategic Planning committees, Curriculum committees, the Faculty Senate, and Accreditation Preparation committees. He is currently a member of the SCU Professional Personnel Committee (PPC). He has also been the Faculty Advisor for the Delta Tau Alpha (DΤΑ) scholastic honor society at SCU since 2012.

Dr. Wanlass created the SCU Clinical Education Wiki Site containing pictures, videos, and descriptions of physical exam, assessment, and treatment procedures taught at SCU. He has published 8 peer-reviewed scientific papers and 9 abstracts on chiropractic education for U.S. and International scientific journals, published 4 books on sport-specific strength training and sports nutrition, and presented lectures and scientific posters at professional conferences. He is a peer-reviewer for national research journals and active in professional associations.
