Biography
Rammanohar Puthiyedath graduated from Bharathiar University, TamilNadu, India, in Ayurveda (BAMS) and completed post-graduate (MD Ay) training in Ayurveda Pharmacology (Dravyaguna) from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka, India. He has 30 years of research experience and currently serves as Head of Research at Amrita School of Ayurveda, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kollam, Kerala, India. He also serves as Director of the Amrita Centre for Advanced Research in Ayurveda, also attached to the Amrita School of Ayurveda. He served as the Principal Investigator on the Indian side of the first-ever National Institutes of Health, USA-funded research study to evaluate the efficacy of Ayurvedic treatment in Rheumatoid Arthritis through a collaboration between Arya Vaidya Pharmacy, Tamil Nadu, India, and the University of Los Angeles, California, USA. The research publication from this study won the Excellence in Integrative Medicine Award from the European Society of Integrative Medicine.
He serves as a Research Advisor to the Indian National Science Academy, Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences, Kerala University of Health Sciences, Central Sanskrit University, Kavikulguru Kalidas Sanskrit University (KKSU), and the National Institute of Ayurveda. He is also a member of the Task Force for Evidence-Based Traditional Medicine of the National Academy of Medical Sciences, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, and the Ayurveda Task Force of the Government of Madhya Pradesh.
