Sports Medicine Emphasis

SCU offers a unique Sports Medicine Emphasis for students in the Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) program. You may provide care for all levels of athletes, from high school to world-class professionals.

Opportunities include exclusive, integrated sports medicine experiences. If you complete the Sports Medicine Emphasis, you will receive a Certificate of Completion. The emphasis is noted on the transcript.

No Additional Time or Cost

The sports medicine emphasis is part of the required 22 credits of selective courses. This means that earning your certificate of completion doesn’t add any time or expense to your education.

Evidence-based Learning

Our sports medicine curriculum builds upon the foundational skills of the DC program. It is evidence-based and focused on outcomes and advanced competency in diagnosing, treating, and preventing athletic injuries.

The curriculum also covers the applications of peaking and recovery programs for sports performance optimization, exercise prescription, and advanced rehabilitation. Areas of study include:

  • Sports chiropractic concepts
  • Clinical diagnosis to return to play
  • Strength and conditioning
  • Sideline skills
  • Biomechanics
  • Tactical sports medicine
  • Tactical strength and conditioning (TSAC)
