Program-Specific Scholarships
The following scholarships are specific to the academic programs offered at SCU
Acupuncture Eastern Medicine Scholarships
The Master of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine (MAcCHM) Out-of-State Scholarship is for incoming Master of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine students who reside outside of California. The scholarship is $8,000 and will be awarded over 10 terms. To be eligible for consideration, students must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Students must be continuously enrolled and in good standing. A scholarship application is not required. SCU will determine eligibility based on the information provided in your application.
The Relocation Housing Scholarship is for incoming Master of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine (MAcCHM) students who reside outside of California or beyond a reasonable distance to commute to campus. The scholarship provides $5,000 towards housing and will be awarded over 2 terms. This scholarship applies only to new students starting their first term in the MAcCHM program. This scholarship is automatically provided to those who qualify.
Description: Scholarship for entering Eastern Medicine Department (EMD) students. There is one scholarship for $5,000 to be awarded over the first three terms of continuous enrollment.
Criteria: To be eligible for the EMD Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Academic Standing: Applicants must be in good academic standing with a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale.
- Financial Need: Applicants must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office.
- Enrollment Status: Applicants must be currently enrolled as full-time students in the EMD graduate program at Southern California University of Health Sciences (SCU) and maintain continuous enrollment throughout the academic year.
- Essay Requirement: In a personal statement of up to 300 words, please respond to the following prompt: “In what ways do you envision yourself embodying SCU’s Whole Person Health philosophy in your future career as a healthcare practitioner or professional?”
Description: Stephen and Mrs. Alice Kwan Care and Love Scholarship is a merit and need-based academic scholarship available to candidates for admission to our Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine (DAcCHM) graduate program at SCU. The scholarship award covers 50% of the DAcCHM program tuition each term the student remains eligible.
Criteria: Applicants must demonstrate commitment to integrative healthcare, demonstrate financial need, and have an entering grade point average (GPA) of 3.4 or higher. In addition to the SCU Scholarship application, three letters of recommendation from supervisors and/or previous or current faculty of courses taken must be submitted as well. These letters can be emailed directly to financialaid@scuhs.edu. Upon notification of scholarship selection, scholarship recipients must also agree to other terms as indicated by the donors. *
Description: This is a need-based scholarship for third year Acupuncture or Chiropractic female students that have high scholastic standing. There is one scholarship for $3,000 to be awarded over the first three terms of continuous enrollment.
Criteria: To be considered for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Gender: Applicants must identify as female.
- Academic Standing: Applicants must maintain good academic standing with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
- Enrollment Status: Applicants must be enrolled full-time in the third year of the DC or DAcCHM program at SCU.
- Financial Need: The Student Aid Index (SAI) will be determined to assess financial need.
The AOM Scholarship Fund established by the Trudy McAllister Foundation supports students who show promise of making significant contributions either to clinical practice and/or to the understanding of the role of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (AOM) in a modern context. The Foundation also supports research and related activities that promote the advancement of AOM.
Ayurveda Scholarship
Description: Scholarship for entering Ayurveda students.There is one scholarship for $1,000 to be distributed over the published length of the entire program.
Criteria: To be eligible for the Ayurveda Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Academic Standing: Applicants must be in good academic standing.
- Financial Need: Applicants must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office.
- Enrollment Status: Applicants must be currently enrolled as full-time students in the Ayurveda certificate program at Southern California University of Health Sciences (SCU) and maintain continuous enrollment throughout the academic year.
- Essay Requirement: In a personal statement of up to 300 words, please respond to the following prompt: “In what ways do you envision yourself embodying SCU’s Whole Person Health philosophy in your future career as a healthcare practitioner or professional?”
Bachelor of Science In Health Sciences (BSHS) Scholarship
Chiropractic Scholarships
The LACC Dean’s Merit Scholarship is available to incoming Doctor of Chiropractic students who have demonstrated academic achievement. The scholarship is $20,000 and will be awarded over 10 terms. To be eligible for consideration, students must have a minimum GPA of 3.6 or higher based on the admissions requirements to enter SCU’s Pathway 1 or 2. Students must be continuously enrolled and in good standing. This scholarship is not available to Pathway 3 (12-term) and Canadian students (see the Canadian Scholarship).
The LACC Out-of-State Scholarship is for incoming Doctor of Chiropractic students who reside outside of California. The scholarship is $15,000 and will be awarded over 10 terms. To be eligible for consideration, students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher based on the admissions requirements to enter SCU’s Pathway 1 or 2. Students must be continuously enrolled and in good standing. A scholarship application is not required. SCU will determine eligibility based on the information provided in your application. Additional documentation may be required. Pathway 3 (12-term) and Canadian Students (see the Canadian Scholarship) are not eligible for this scholarship.

The Phoenix Doctor of Chiropractic Dean’s Merit Scholarship is available to incoming Doctor of Chiropractic students at the Phoenix Metro Campus who have demonstrated academic achievement. The scholarship is $20,000 and will be awarded over 10 terms. To be eligible for consideration, students must have a minimum GPA of 3.6 or higher based on the admissions requirements to enter SCU’s Pathway 1 or 2. Students must be continuously enrolled and in good standing. This scholarship is not available to Canadian students (see the Canadian Scholarship).
The Phoenix Doctor of Chiropractic Academic Achievement Merit Scholarship is for incoming Doctor of Chiropractic students at the Phoenix Metro Campus. The scholarship is $5,000 and will be awarded over 10 terms1. To be eligible for consideration, students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher based on the admissions requirements to enter SCU’s Pathway 1 or 2. Students must be continuously enrolled and in good standing. A scholarship application is not required. SCU will determine eligibility based on the information provided in your application. Additional documentation may be required. This scholarship is not available to Canadian students (see the Canadian Scholarship).
Description: The Dana Goodrich Deane Memorial scholarship was created by the Goodrich and Deane families to honor SCU alum, the late Dana Goodrich Deane (DC, 1992). The Dana Goodrich Deane Memorial Scholarship provides an opportunity to financially assist Chiropractic students. This scholarship will be awarded in the Fall term to 2 chiropractic students. The chosen recipients will receive a $15,000 award per year for 2 years, or $5,000 per trimester if fewer than 2 years remain in the program.
Criteria: Open to Doctor of Chiropractic students who are currently enrolled in their 1st trimester or beyond. Minimum GPA requirement is 3.2 Must have interest in lifestyle medicine (mind body, nutrition, yoga, meditation, food as medicine) Must demonstrate community service. Priority will be given to students who demonstrate financial need. Complete two essay statements, submit two letters of recommendation from current SCU or previous faculty members and one letter of reference from a community service organization.

Criteria: To be eligible for the LACC Benefactor Scholarship Fund, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Academic Standing: Applicants must be in good academic standing with a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Financial Need: Applicants must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office.
- Enrollment Status: Applicants must be currently enrolled as full-time students in the LACC graduate program at Southern California University of Health Sciences (SCU) and maintain continuous enrollment throughout the academic year.
- Essay Requirement: In a personal statement of up to 300 words, please respond to the following prompt: “In what ways do you envision yourself embodying SCU’s Whole Person Health philosophy in your future career as a healthcare practitioner or professional?”
Arctic Chiropractic Got a Spine ScholarshipArctic Chiropractic in Fairbanks, Alaska provides a $500 scholarship each year called the Got a Spine Scholarship. Both U.S. and Canadian students are eligible to apply. For more information, visit https://arcticchiropracticfairbanks.com/.
American Black Chiropractic Association Scholarship
Visit www.abcachiro.com/ for full details and application. The award is based on application information/questions and academic records. The deadline is in May of each year.
Christian Chiropractor’s Association Auxiliary Scholarship
Applicant must be a CCA member enrolled at an accredited chiropractic college. Visit christianchiropractors.org/scholarship.htm for more information. April 30 deadline annually.
FICS Scholarship

The Foxworth Family Scholarship
Applicants must be full-time Doctor of Chiropractic students at an accredited institution with a minimum 2.7 GPA. For details and application, visit www.chirohealthusa.com .
Legacy for Leadership Scholarship
Applications are now open for the ChiroCongress Cares inaugural $5,000 scholarship award. To apply, simply complete the online application. Applicants are required to provide their educational information, a brief essay describing their leadership qualities, and two letters of recommendation from individuals who can attest to their character and commitment to the chiropractic profession. Maynard Lipe Scholarship Award
Applicants must be honorable DCs enrolled in a PG Orthopedics program leading to diplomate status or a master’s degree. Visit https://acco.wildapricot.org/scholarship/ for details. The deadline is in November.
NBCE Student Scholarship
Applicants must have passed all of NBCE Part I Boards to be eligible to apply. For full application details as well as complete eligibility requirements, please visit www.mynbce.org/scholarship. The deadline is typically the end of July annually.
SICA Scholarships
Visit www.chiropractic.org for criteria for all SICA scholarships, including Auxiliary Scholarship & Arnold Schwarzenegger Chiropractic Scholarship. The deadline is in April each year.
World Congress of Women Chiropractors Scholarship
For criteria and downloadable application, visit www.wcwchiropractors.org. The deadline is October 31 annually.
DOCTOR OF MEDICAL SCIENCE SCHOLARSHIPS

American Academy of Physician Associates – AAPA advocates and educates on behalf of the profession and the patients PAs serve. We work to ensure the professional growth, personal excellence, and recognition of PAs. We also enhance their ability to improve the quality, accessibility, and cost-effectiveness of patient-centered healthcare.
State & Federal Service Chapters – Chartered chapters of AAPA in every state, one U.S. Territory, and the District of Columbia. There are also five federal service chapters.
Specialty Organizations – Specialty organizations support AAPA’s knowledge base regarding medical specialty practice issues. Twenty-seven organizations strengthen the PA profession through their specialized medical knowledge and interactions with their medical and professional counterparts. These relationships allow specialty organizations to partner with AAPA to address challenges with reimbursement, clinical practice, regulation, and other matters
Special Interest Groups – SIGs are informal groups of individuals sharing a common goal or interest. SIGs are recognized and approved by AAPA’s Board of Directors. AAPA currently recognizes 27 SIGs including PAs in Obesity Medicine, PAs in Pain Medicine, and more.
Caucuses – A caucus is composed of individuals who share a common goal or interest related to healthcare access or delivery. AAPA currently recognizes 11 caucuses including PAs for Global Health, PAs for Latino Health, and more.
Scholarships cannot be combined except for the Inaugural Scholarship. Active membership to ADPA is not eligible for the membership discount as ADPA membership fees are waived for students currently enrolled in doctoral-PA programs.
